Saira Clegg<\/strong> was born in July 1985 in London. She started the clarinet at the age of 8, and one year later started the saxophone. In 1997 she began studying both instruments with a scholarship under the Governments Music and Ballet Scheme at The Purcell School of Music<\/a>. After leaving school she continued onto The Royal College of Music gaining a Foundation Scholarship for Clarinet and Saxophone. She then spent one and a half years studying with Bruce Weinberger in Switzerland, before restarting\u00a0 and completing her Degree and Masters in Darmstadt, Germany with Linda Bangs-Urban.At the age of 10, Saira performed her first solo saxophone concerto and one year later became the principal clarinettist of the English National Children\u2019s Orchestra. Her last performance with the orchestra, at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester (UK), was recorded for Classic FM radio. In 1999, she won the \u201cWatford Twin Town\u201d competition resulting in two solo recitals at the Rachmaninoff Festival in Novgorod, Russia. In 2001, Saira played the clarinet for Prince Charles at the UNESCO building, Paris. She won the \u201cThree Rivers Young Musician\u201d and \u201cWatford Young Musician of the Year\u201d in 2002. Saira has performed at Buckingham Palace, the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and St. Johns Smith Square.Saira Clegg is a well rounded musician and performs solo saxophone, as well as chamber music in quartets and orchestras. She has participated in lessons and workshops with The Rascher Saxophone Quartet, Carina Rascher, Kyle Horch, WIldy Zumwalt, John Edward Kelly and Bruce Weinberger.<\/p>\n

Saira is a very versatile player, and has played for wedding parties, birthday parties and art gallery openings and for more formal events such as a political conferences, and evening concerts. Her solo performance at the Landtag<\/a>, Mainz was recorded for German SWR2 Radio.<\/p>\n

From 2007 to 2012 she has played as an Understudy with the Hessen State Police Orchestra<\/a>, the Big Band and the Combo Jazz Band, touring around Hessen performing for official Police events, Summer Events, Fundraising for the Community and Christmas Church Services. In 2010 \u2013 2012, she was a member of the Staatstheatre of Wiesbaden<\/a> playing both alto and tenor saxophones as well as clarinet for musicals such as \u201cKiss Me Kate\u201d and \u201cSweet Charity\u201d.<\/p>\n

Since 2012 Saira has returned to England where she trained as a Primary School Teacher alongside her private Saxophone tuition. She is married and lives in High Peak, Derbyshire.<\/p>\n

Saira Clegg ist in allen Stilrichtungen zu Hause und tritt sowohl solistisch als auch kammermusikalisch oder im Orchester auf. Ihre musikalische Laufbahn wurde von diversen Meisterkursen und international renommierten K\u00fcnstlern gepr\u00e4gt, u.a. dem \u201eRascher Saxophon Quartett\u201c, Carina Rascher, John Edward Kelly, Kyle Horch, Wildy Zumwalt und Bruce Weinberger.<\/p>\n

Sie ist ebenfalls p\u00e4dagogisch t\u00e4tig; sie unterrichtet seit vielen Jahren Klarinette und Saxophon.<\/p>\n
